SOUTH BEND, Ind. - At its fall meeting, the Wood Components Manufacturers Association named Frank Fitts, Fitts Industries, and Mark Elliott, Elliott Woodworking, to its board of directors. The men replace Barry Freiburger, George Gunzler & Sons Inc., and Leon Osborne, Osborne Wood Products, whose terms ended.

Also serving on the board for the WCMA are Executive Committee members: Sid Anderson, Anderson Wood Products, president; Steve Mashl, Valley Custom Door, vice president; Steve Gerber, Gerber Wood Products, treasurer; and Paul Dow, Yoder Lumber Co., immediate past president.

In addition to Fitts and Elliott, also on the WCMA Board of Directors are: Mike Schulke, Tigerton Lumber Co.; Jeremy Rentschler, Indiana Dimension Inc.; and Rhonda Kendrick, Kendrick Forest Products. Steve Waltman, Stiles Machinery Inc., is the ex-officio Technology Partner representative on the board.

The WCMA's 2016 Fall Conference & Plant Tour Event was held Sept. 18-20 in South Bend, Indiana, and included more than 120 registrants from 61 companies and organizations. The three-day event featured a keynote presentation by John Bassett III, chairman of Vaughan-Bassett, on successful business strategies as profiled in his book, “Making it in America: A 12-Point Plan for Growing Your Business and Keeping Jobs at Home.” Also keynoting, Chris Stevens, founder and CEO of CS74 Ventures LLC, spoke on leadership and enterprise strategies to members of the WCMA. Stevens was also one of the developers of the Keurig Premium Coffee System in 1998, one of the top brands in the United States.

The event also included plant tours to eight area companies: American Millwork, Cole Hardwood Inc., Indiana Dimension Inc., Kountry Wood Products, Quality Hardwood Sales, RH Yoder Woodworking, Riverside Tool and Woodenware USA Inc.
