ASCHAFFENBURG, Germany — In recent years Pollmeier expanded its beech sawmill facility in Aschaffenburg, Germany, to become Europe´s largest production site for cut-to-size hardwood.
This video from Pollmeier looks at how its “highly automated sawmill cuts beech logs into lumber.” The boards are lightly steamed, and carefully kiln-dried to 7-9% moisture content. In its new high-bay warehouse, Pollmeier stores 21,000 pallets of its ready-to-use components are purchased by more than 1,000 customers in over 70 countries.
