CORNING, Ark. — The Clay County Sheriff Department arrested a man suspected of shooting two people at Baker Sawmill Saturday afternoon.

According to KAIT news, the two victims were initially taken to a Jonesboro, Arkansas hospital and treated for shotgun wounds. One of the victims was later transferred to a hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas, and the other to a hospital in Memphis. The alleged shooter, who was taken into custody at a home about a half mile from the sawmill operation, had also been shot.

Investigating authorities have not released the identities of the victims or alleged shooter, including whether or not any of the three were employed at the mill.

Baker Sawmill is owned by Baker Products, a manufacturer of sawmill and wood processing equipment based in Ellington, Missouri. In 2023, a custom scragg mill operation was added to the Corning facility to process roundwood to make shipping pallets.
