BALDWYN, Miss. — U.S. Marshals in Portland, Oregon, apprehended a suspect in a shooting at a bedding and furniture foam factory that occurred more than three weeks and 2,000 miles away. 

Baldwyn, Mississippi, police said that the suspect, Javontae Zyderrick Harris, 29, was wanted for the shooting that happened on July 2, 2025, at the FXI factory in Baldwyn. The victim, who was not named, was shot in the head and is in critical condition at a local hospital.

The incident appears to have stemmed from an argument between the suspect and the victim in the parking lot. Both of whom are employees at the factory.

The victim was about to start his overnight shift when he became engaged in an argument with another employee at FXI. 

The company, which makes mattresses and foam products, released a statement to WTVA. “FXI is aware of an altercation that occurred on the evening of July 2nd outside of our Baldwyn, Mississippi, plant which involved one of our temporary employees. Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual and his family. The safety and well-being of our employees is our utmost priority, and FXI is fully cooperating with authorities to support their investigation.”
