Riverside Forest Products USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Canada’s Riverside Industries, has signed a lease with the city of Forks, Washington, to build a $12 million sawmill, according to Building Products Digest.
The facility will specialize in kiln-dried hemlock and green Douglas fir dimensional lumber. Building Products Digest said the project might be built in two phases. Phase one will create 40 to 50 jobs. Another 30 to 50 positions could be added in two to three years with the addition of a second shift.
A $200,000 grant secured by the Clallam Economic Development Council will help reimburse Riverside for lighting and electrical upgrades planned at the industrial park.
