As of January 2021, IFS Coatings Inc., manufacturer of powder coatings, will purchase monthly carbon offsets to further its work towards becoming more sustainable.

The carbon offset initiative builds on existing environmental responsibility programs and is part of a long-term strategy to improve the company’s environmental impact and ensure a more sustainable business for customers, employees, suppliers and communities.

Glynn Mason, IFS Coatings president, said, “Part of our mission statement is to provide the environmentally responsible choice, and we take that extremely seriously. We choose only to manufacture powder coatings, a significantly more sustainable coating option when compared to other finishes, and our mission goes beyond our product into every area of our business. We are constantly looking at ways in which we can reduce our environmental impact, and using the terrapass program to offset our carbon footprint is now a key part of that.”

The terrapass system invests in carbon reduction projects and carbon offsets purchased through terrapass support projects in communities around the United States and the world, including reforestation, renewable energy produced by wind power and methane capture at dairy farms, landfills, and abandoned coal mines.
