SAN DIMAS, Calif. – Craig Elderson has been promoted to the position of president at Edgebanding Services Inc. (ESI). Elderson has managed the daily operations of ESI as the executive vice president for the last 10 years.
Jeff Sharp, owner and CEO, handed over the reins to Elderson at the end of the first quarter of 2022. Sharp, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2005 said that “I have been fighting tooth and nail against Parkinson’s. The disease has progressed to the point that it is better for the health of the company that I turn over the control of ESI to my trusted, a lifelong friend, Craig Elderson.”
ESI‘s true roots and passion dating back to 1983 when Jeff Sharp started his journey with the original Woodtape, which is now recognized as Doellken-Surteco. In 1991, Sharp recognized a service gap in the emerging edgebanding industry. The dream
began in a 1,500 sq. ft. bay in an industrial park in Covina, Calif.,
Working 14-hour days, 6 days a week for 10 years (without vacations) is all that it took.
ESI, now headquartered in San Dimas, Calif., has grown to eight fully staffed and stocked branches in seven states and with more than 100 dedicated employees who strive for customer service excellence, and a combined 1.3 million sq. ft. of warehouse and inventory to support its loyal customer base. ESI has branch locations in San Dimas and San Francisco, Calif., Salt Lake City, Utah, Seattle, Denver, Phoend St. Louis, and Mou.
Sharp said the true importance of relations and trust-building between suppliers, customers, and employees has been the key to ESI’s success.
