HARRISBURG, Pa. — Miter Brands plans to close its Simi Valley Manufacturing facility in early June as part of a strategic initiative to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. The company says this decision allows the company to optimize its manufacturing footprint while ensuring continued service and support for its valued dealer partners.
Local reports say that around 400 or so people who work there will be affected. The plant, which makes the company's Milgard products, is one of Simi Valley's biggest employers and has been for decades.
“Our team in Simi Valley has been instrumental in delivering the finest products, services, and customer experiences to our customers,” said Craig Nath, SVP of Operations for Miter Brands. “We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and contributions of our team members, and we recognize the important role they have played in the success of the Milgard brand.”
In a statement released March 25, Milgard products will continue to be available, and customers will not experience any disruptions in service or support. This transition is expected to enhance our efficiency as we consolidate production into facilities with advanced manufacturing capabilities.
“As we make this transition, we remain committed to ensuring a seamless experience for our customers and partners,” added Nath. “Over the past several years we have made significant investments in nearby facilities that will allow us to maintain our high standards and continue delivering exceptional value.”
In March 2024, Miter bought another window and door manufacturer, PGT Innovations, in a $3.1 billion deal.
According to the Ventura County Star, the acquisition made Miter one of the three largest U.S. window manufacturers. It also gave Miter more manufacturing capacity than it needed in the western United States, the report added.
Miter Brands said it will work closely with affected team members to support them during this transition, including offering assistance with job placement opportunities within the company and the local community where possible.
