Lumber Liquidators sales up 11.8%; names Schlegel CMO

Lumber Liquidators (NYSE: LL), a hardwood flooring specialty retailer, says fourth quarter net sales increased 11.8% to $153.2 million;  fourth quarter net income was $5.9 million, a 17% decline.

For the full year Lumber Liquidators says it expects 2011 net sales to be $700 million to $730 million, an increase of 13% to 18%.

"We steadily regained traction throughout the fourth quarter and are pleased to have ended the year strongly," says Jeffrey Griffiths, CEO. "Our results reflected residual productivity challenges of our recent SAP implementation."

Lumber Liquidators also named William K. Schlegel chief merchandising officer, effective March 14, 2011. Schlegel was previously vice president of merchandising at Harbor Freight Tools, where he reorganized the Global Sourcing and Quality Group.

Schlegel will oversee the Lumber Liquidator's merchandising, replenishment and allocation and global sourcing activities, reporting directly to Robert Lynch, president and CEO. Lumber Liquidators says it is the largest specialty retailer of hardwood flooring in the United States, with more than 230 stores and 340 varieties of flooring, including solid and engineered hardwood, bamboo, cork and laminate, and brands such as Bellawood, Schon and Virginia Mill Works.
