WASHINGTON - L.L.Bean issued a voluntary recall for approximately 2,800 painted wood cottage step stools after receiving six reports of incidents involving slips and falls that resulted in soreness and bruising.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the 12-inch-tall stools can slide or tip over. They were made in China and sold for about $40. Consumers are urged to return the stools to L.L.Bean of Freeport, ME, for a full refund.
