- Lifetime Doors has closed an Easton, PA plant, placing contents up for auction. Acquired by Monsanto in Oct. 2010, the Farmington Hills, MI-based wood door manufacturer operates plants in Denmark, SC,  Hearne, TX, Watseka, IL, and at two sites in California - Los Banos and Sacramento.

The Easton auction, which takes place April 20, includes a KVAL Router, SCMI automatic gang, Toyota forklift,  Timesaver Sander, Transco Products Micro-Air dryer, C.R. Onsrun router and more than a dozen door presses. A three-story high dust collector system with drive-through semi unloader gives a sense of the scale of the operation.

When Masonite Inc. acquired the assets of the privately held Lifetime Doors last year it gained capacity for moulded, veneer, prefinished and bifold doors.  Lifetime traces its roots to the mid 1940s Midwest Plywood, a distributor of hardwood and softwood plywood with warehouses in Detroit, Cleveland, Dayton and Toledo. Midwest Plywood sold plywood locally and also wholesaled carloads of flush doors from other suppliers into booming post-War housing markets around the U.S.

By 1947,  Midwest began to produce its own flush doors, spinning off  Wisconsin Knight, Inc. in 1950 and later merging it into Lifetime Doors, Inc. It Sacramento cutstock facility supports the other manufacturing sites.
