ZEELAND, MI - Kokâs Woodgoods will close by October, laying off up to 40 workers, reports the Holland (MI) Sentinel.
Kok's Woodgoods manufactures and sells architectural woodwork components, supplying them to home improvement chains Lowe's and Menard's for its parent corporation, Tenon LLC, based in Aukland, New Zealand.
Tenon acquired Kok's Woodgoods in 2005, and in 2007 merged it into Ornamental Products, a High Point, NC sister company that Tenon acquired in 2006. Ornamental Products operates a 250,000 square foot automated wood components manufacturing plant and warehouse with state-of-the-art CNC routing machinery.
Kok's Woodgoods employees may be able to transfer to other divisions. Last year Tenon completed the acquisition of Dallas-based Southwest Moulding. An initial 51% investment by Tenon in Southwest was made in 2005, and Tenon acquired an additional 24.5% in August 2007.
