DIXFIELD, Maine – Irving Forest Product’s Dixfield sawmill introduced baled wood shavings to its line of value-added products.

The Dixfield sawmill has sold Eastern white pine shavings from its lumber manufacturing process for animal bedding, racetrack padding, and pathways for many years. The company noted that packaging wood shavings makes it easier to transport and handle and keep dry compared to bulk loose residuals.

This is Irving’s only sawmill to date to offer baled shavings.
