BOONE, N.C. - With the help of local furniture makers, industry leaders, and local government, a state-of-the-art furniture factory laboratory has opened at North Carolina's Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute (CCC&TI).

The Furniture Factory Lab will prepare young furniture makers by offering training in shop machinery, cutting room automation, upholstery, and sewing. The lab was made possible by French machinery provider Lectra - who donated a machine - and local furniture makers Bernhardt, Fairfield Chair, and McCreary Modern.

“It’s very much state-of-the-art,” CCC&TI President Dr. Mark Poarch said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “This is the ultimate collaboration of business, industry and education. Our partners came together to create something special, and something that’s needed in our community.”

CCC&TI is currently registering students for the courses. Those interested in registering can call 828-726-2242 for more information.
