ALPHARETTA, GA -- Hettich International, a supplier of quality furniture hardware products, recently announced the 20 winners of its Sixth International Furniture Design Awards. An international panel of judges selected the winners in the categories of furniture and fittings. Furniture focused on the home of tomorrow and fittings focused on the aesthetic impact of hinges, drawers, tambour door systems, edgeband materials, handles and the technical function of fittings.
More than $25,000 in prizes was awarded to the winners of the first through seventh places in each category. The panel awarded first-place in the Furniture category to “pink” by Natalia Jakobiec from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice in Poland. Second-place went to Barbora Markechova from Slovak University of Technology for her “post-it.” And Michal Kracik from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in Poland received third-place for “snail.” In the Fittings category, first-place was presented to Pavol Torma from the University of Technology in Kosice/Slovakia for “clap flap.” Matthias Hill and Henrike Ganb from the College of Art and Design in Halle, Germany won second-place for “JUMI flexible and griffstark.” Third-place was awarded to Tomasz Skrobol from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow for “String Handle.”
