NEW YORK – Manufacturing furniture from reclaimed boat materials was the challenge facing the 13 woodworkers in Spike TV's new reality show Framework, hosted by hip-hop artist Common. The design and build competition show debuted January 6.

Over the 10-week series, three judges will evaluate the projects based on design principles, building techniques and consumer appeal. The Framework judges are: Brandon  Gore, founder of Gore Design Co. and producer of the Hard Goods furniture line; internationally recognized designer Nolen Niu; and the Grammy-award-winning musician and host, Common.

Each week the furniture craftsmen are given a total of 24 hours to complete a piece of furniture, with one contestant eliminated at the end of each episode. Competing for a $100,000 cash prize, $20,000 in tools from Ace Hardware and the opportunity to launch their furniture nationally through a major manufacturer are:

Brian K Ellison, owner of BKE Designs in Chicago; Jory Brigham, a furniture designer and builder from San Luis Obispo, CA; Rahil Taj, owner of RAH:DESIGNS in Los Angeles; Lacey Campbell, a furniture designer from Toledo, OH; Nathaniel Hall, owner of RxMadera Design in San Diego; Wesley November, an artist and builder from Huntington Beach, CA; Jessica Brown, owner of Lady J Designs in Providence, RI; Jason Radcliffe, owner of 44 Steel, Rocky River, OH; Curtis Michael "Rew," a custom woodworker and woodworking teacher in the Spokane, WA area; Garrett Brown, owner of Garrett Brown Designs in Denver; Craig Bayens, a furniture maker and designer from Louisville, KY; Freddy Hill, a furniture maker and designer from Akron, OH; and furniture maker and designer Erin Brown, from Golden, CO.

In addition to a prize, Ace Hardware also provided the workshop equipment and supplies used by contestants during the 10-week series. Framework can be seen Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m. ET on the Spike channel.
