Founded 1880, Carver Wood Products Destroyed by Fire

MARION, WI - A historic woodworking plant, Carver Wood Products in Marion, WI, was destroyed by a fire that began Oct. 24. Working in a plant dating from 1880, Carver Wood Products produced solid cherry and oak desk accessories and office items.

Owner Jim Jueds told the local Fox News affiliate he did not expect to restart the business. Eight fire departments were called to fight the blaze. The building was vacant and no one was injured. Built in 1880, areas of the plant were layered in sawdust. The intensity of the flames cause the steel roof supports to collapse, according to local  reports.

Typical products included maple and walnut pen holders, waste baskets, and tissue boxes in natural oak, walnut, and mahogany stain.
