Former Herman Miller CEO Brian Walker joins Room’s board

NEW YORK - Adaptive office solutions provider Room has named Brian Walker, former CEO of Herman Miller, to its board of directors.

“Brian’s 14-year tenure at the helm of Herman Miller will be an invaluable asset for us,” said Brian Chen, co-founder and CEO of Room. “We are excited to add Brian’s voice to our board as we chart a new course for how companies can best adapt to the new world of work we are entering.”

Walker spent 29 years at the contract furniture giant, including 14 as CEO. During his tenure, he positioned Herman Miller as a premium lifestyle brand, serving consumers and contract customers across multiple channels. Walker currently serves as a Partner of Strategic Leadership at private equity firm Huron Capital. He was named a Wood Industry Market Leader in 2010.

As part of Room’s Board of Directors, Walker will use his expertise to advance the company's international expansion, help to grow its global supply chain, and advise on executive team development. “The vision at Room is beyond furniture or furnishings, it is about enabling knowledge workers to safely gather in environments that inspire great work and adapt to quickly evolving needs,” Walker said. “Ultimately, a great workplace should be a service to the people who work there, and I am very excited by Room's bold strategy of creating tech-enabled, data-driven adaptability. Room’s 4,500-plus clients include Nike, Google, Samsung, Uber, Walmart, and J.P.Morgan.
