The Austin Business Journal is reporting that Austin, Texas-based Delta Millworks plans to start work in June on a 33-acre, $34.7 million headquarters in Wimberley, Texas. The new site is expected to open next year with 88,000 square feet of building space, along with environmental features, like natural habitat for wildlife and walking trails.
Delta supplies the sustainable wood siding, paneling, and decking materials to the AEC industry, shipped worldwide. Delta's award-winning prefinished wood products, including its modern-day Shou Sugi Ban charred wood finishes, continue to inspire architects, builders and designers to create one-of-a-kind projects.
Delta Millworks was founded in 1985 in Austin by Bob Davis, with a focus on Architectural Millwork & Reclaimed Longleaf Pine. In 2007, the Delta team began experimenting with burning wood using a torch, unaware it was reviving the traditional Japanese technique of burning wood, shou-sugi-ban.
