PONTOTOC, Miss. - A Mississippi upholstered furniture maker will invest $400,000 into its operations, adding 20 jobs.
Behold Washington, a merger between Behold Home and Washington Furniture, will expand into a 400,000-square-foot facility adjacent to its main plant. The new plant was built to replace the former building destroyed in a fire last September. Behold Home purchased Washington Furniture last June.
“We continue to expand our footprint here in Pontotoc, and we don’t have any plans of slowing down,” said Behold Washington Vice President of Sales John Beard. “Pontotoc has an excellent workforce and has always been a great environment to expand operations.”
The Mississippi Development Authority will provide as much as $400,000 in grants for the expansion. The city of Pontotoc will purchase the facility - leasing it to the company.
The company employs 215 at the plant. Production should begin this fall.
Police declared the September fire arson. The culprit was never apprehended. Washington Furniture was able to resume production just three weeks after the fire, thanks to Behold Home adding a furniture line at its nearby Smithville facility.
Behold Washington manufacturers motion and stationary furniture.
