Greensboro, NC – Columbia Forest Products has presented their first AIA CES program, “Decorative Hardwood Plywood & Indoor Air Quality,” to its 2000th student since launching it in 2007, according to Columbia’s Specification & Specialty Product Manager, Richard Poindexter, LEED AP.
This 1-hour program is a review of how today’s hardwood plywood is made and the many options that can be specified into it, including the latest no-added-urea-formaldehyde adhesives, enabling it to contribute credits in LEED projects. Columbia makes its hardwood plywood with a formaldehyde-free EPA award-winning system they call “PureBond®.” To date, over 40 million hardwood plywood panels have been produced with their innovative, soy-based PureBond technology.
According to Poindexter, “Columbia is in the business of de-mystifying the topic of how to specify sustainable and healthy wood products into residential and commercial settings. We emphasize the point that these features don’t necessarily mean cost premiums. Our AIA program is a generic, brand-free discussion of the indoor air quality aspects of the issue, and we’re always open after the presentation to take questions and discuss all aspects of successful hardwood plywood specification.”
