MAQUOKETA, Iowa - The owner of a small Iowa woodworking business says he took advantage of the state's closures, opting to shut down his shop voluntarily to upgrade and remodel.

Charlie Sagers, owner of Sagers Custom Woodworking, has been wanting to remodel his shop for 20 years, reports WQAD News. And since he shut down last month, he has done just that - so far removing an interior wall and upgrading lighting, electrical, and the furnace.

Sagers is a licensed contractor and restores antique furniture in historic homes. He also builds custom furniture and millwork.

Sagers is remaining optimistic and says he looks forward to the day when his shop and other small businesses can finally reopen.
