BRANTFORD, Ontario — A new online store has been launched by Canada-based Cabinet Solutions that allows customers to make design decisions that can be tied directly to the company's CNC production machinery.

Customers of the commercial casegood component manufacturer can now modify any cabinet design from a large library found on the store's website. The user can choose from dimensions and change opening sizes, door reveals, materials, and hardware with no extra fees. This includes instant (real-time) pricing adjustments.

The automated nature of the system allows wholesale pricing for small quantities of truly custom products. Batch sizes of one are now open to the public, the company said.

Cabinet Solutions in Brantford, Ontario, in collaboration with Louise Street Marketing, a Canadian digital marketing agency, and Microvellum, a design and manufacturing software supplier, has developed an in-house system to process the details of custom cabinetry that it said rivals well-known industry leaders.

“We’ve had leading-edge machinery for decades, added Microvellum to drive it 8 years ago, and now we’ve taken it to the next level where our clients can tell our machines what they want,” said Drew Neven, owner and operator of Cabinet Solutions.

The Bank for Canadian Entrepreneurs got the ball rolling in 2022 with their assistance in applying for CDAP (Canada Digital Adoption Program), which encouraged businesses to move towards digital technologies. This report demonstrated some key areas to focus on, including a comprehensive ERP that was provided by Innergy— a wood industry leader.

The WMCO (Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario) has played an important role in this process with its unique cluster approach to entice the FedDev (Federal Economic Development Agency) to financially support small businesses as they digitize their processes and move towards Industry 4.0. Cabinet Solutions leveraged this support to spend the past year creating this user-friendly method of gathering all the information and sending it to the machinery.

As a long-time casework supplier to the industry in the greater Toronto area (GTA), Cabinet Solutions is pleased to offer its high-quality work in such a streamlined manner, said Neven. Eliminating non-value-added data entry work aligns with their lean values of reducing waste and providing clients with the best possible value for their dollar.
