Strong forest industry
With 369 million hectares of forest area (160 million third-party certified), Canada has 9% of the world’s forest but is responsible for only 0.37% of global deforestation since 1990. In 2023, the forest industry contributed $27.0 billion to Canada’s nominal GDP; wood product manufacturing accounted for $13.3 billion.
