RESTON, Va. -  Cabinet sales climbed 4.3% in 2016, reaching $6.8 billion, according to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's (KCMA) monthly Trend of Business Survey. Participating cabinet manufacturers also reported stock sales increased 4.0%; semi-custom sales increased 5.9%, and custom sales increased 1.3%.

Despite the overall positive news for 2016, the survey saw a decrease in December sales of 1.0% compared to monthly figures from 2015. Although stock sales increased 2.5%, semi-custom sales decreased 0.2%, and custom sales decreased 12.3% for the month, compared to 2015.

Survey participants include stock, semi-custom, and custom companies whose combined sales represent approximately 70 percent of the U.S. kitchen cabinet and bath vanity market. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.

KCMA is the major trade association for kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. All major U.S. cabinet manufacturing companies belong to KCMA, plus 63 percent of KCMA cabinet manufacturer members report sales below $10 million annually, reflecting the importance of small manufacturers in the industry.
