TORONTO — The 2007 Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo completed a successful three-day run, Oct. 26-28, at the International Centre, besting the previous event’s attendance figures by at least 10 percent.

Preliminary figures for Canada’s largest woodworking event indicated an attendance of more than 5,296 visitors, plus approximately 2,645 exhibitor personnel representing more than 230 companies.

The expo was produced for the first time by Vance Communications Canada and managed by Hall-Erickson Inc. It was sponsored by the Canadian Woodworking Machinery Distributors Assn.

WMS 2007 also featured the inaugural Canadian Closets Conference, cosponsored by CLOSETS magazine and the Association of Closet & Storage Professionals.

“We were very pleased with the turnout,” said Harry Urban, senior vice president of Vance Communications Canada. “Attendees and exhibitors alike were enthusiastic about the event, which points to the strength of the Canadian woodworking sector.

“Vance has a strong commitment to the Canadian woodworking industry,” Urban added. “We’ve done our best to work with the industry associations and educational facilities. We are looking forward to building even stronger relations in the future.”

In addition to WMS, Vance Communications Canada produces the Salon Industriel du Bois Ouvré, the most important woodworking event in Quebec. The next SIBO is scheduled for Oct. 23-25, 2008, in Laval, QUE. For more information on exhibiting, go to www.sibo.ca or phone (905) 405-6258.
