Test for anti-stain treatment

Q: Can I test some kiln-dried hard maple lumber to determine if the lumber was dipped in an anti-stain chemical when the wood was green?

A: Kiln-dried lumber can be tested to determine if the wood was dipped in an anti-stain chemical treatment.

A small sample must be sent to a company that sells the treating chemicals for their evaluation. The test is not a do-it-yourself test.
