Dear Woodworker,
We have about 800-1000 board feet of native Chestnut lumber -- barn floor boards 2" thick, 12-14-15" wide and random lengths of 20-24-26' in length from a chestnut post and beam barn built in or around the 1890s located in Western Maryland. The barn boards were removed from the barn floor and replaced with heavier oak plans in 2022-2023 and are in dry storage in our machine shed. These are not "wormy chestnut" -- evaluate as real native chestnut. Trying to determine both the value and woodmakers who would like to purchase. We have been told that the value is roughly $13-18 per board foot. We have had some samples evaluated and pictures are attached here. We also have a number of other photos with measures in photos and more close up shots of the grain and texture of the lumber.
Would you be so kind as to help us located woodmakers or wood shops who might wish to purchase these boards? Thank You. We do not want this lumber to be destroyed or wasted -- we believe it could live on in a new use for furniture or cabinets or flooring or coverings.
