ATLANTA -- Thermwood Corp. of Dale, IN, introduced the Barb Dado at the International Woodworking Fair, a new joinery concept for nested-based manufacturing applications.

Ken Susnajara, president of Thermwood, explained that the Barb Dado features a series of "fiber barbs" cut by specially-designed router bits. When two parts are glued and pressed together, the "barbs" are bent firmly downward to hold the pieces together. The result is a joint so strong that it does not require screws or clamps.

The Barb Dado was showcased via the demonstration of a CabinetShop 43 production cell featuring a Thermwood nesting router and a Favrol edgebander.
