Biesse showcases production-saving solutions at IWF

ATLANTA - Along with standalone machines, at IWF Biesse is demonstrating two automated lines designed to simplify production and alleviate labor market shortages. The company says these solutions also are a direct response to the demand for smart automation in today’s manufacturing environment.

On display at booth # B7553 and B7953, the first solution is an automated line with an Automatech Robot which enables the production of components for up to 150 kitchen cabinets per shift with only one operator. Biesse will demonstrate how to store, load, machine and sort different material types to be processed. The materials will be automatically processed by routing, drilling, inserting dowels, edgebanding and finally sorting the parts by cabinet. The cell includes a Winstore X2 material management system auto loading a Rover A nesting cell, robotic offloading and part management through an Elix bore and dowel machine, followed by automatic transfer to a Stream A Smart edgebander. According to the company, traditional work cells to accomplish these production quantities can require more than four operators while this automated solution reduces this number to a single operator.

The second is a ROS FT + Rover robotic system that unloads machine parts from a nesting machine. Suitable for all production types, the ROS FT features a dedicated unloading conveyor the company says maximizes the machine’s working efficiency and increases productivity; it can use a vertical trolley to unload delicate parts and can sort panels to optimize the workflow after nesting.  It is also a plug’n’play solution.

Other products on display include: the Stream A Smart single-sided automatic edgebander demonstrated with the TM Top Melt pre-melting unit with quick color change; the Rover A 5-axis CNC machining center which can be equipped with XPS – Extreme Positioning System; the Opera R robotic sander for single-piece MDF doors; and the compact Brema Eko 2.1 vertical drilling machine.

Among the products on display, the Stream A Smart single-sided automatic edgebanding machine is designed to increase production capacity.  In addition, it allows easy monitoring of machining phases and status through a vertical five-color LED bar.
