New chairman, members elected to AHFA Board of Directors

HIGH POINT N.C. - Bill Wittenberg, CEO of Klaussner Home Furnishings, Asheboro, North Carolina, was elected 2018 Chairman of the American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA) Board of Directors.
 
Gat Caperton, CEO of Gat Creek Furniture, was elected first vice chairman, and Jeb Bassett, senior vice president of Bassett Furniture’s wood division, was elected second vice chairman.
 
The new officers assume their posts on Jan. 1 and AHFA’s 2017 chairman, Richard Magnussen of Magnussen Home Furnishings, moves to immediate past-chairman of the Board of Directors for 2018.
 
Executives newly elected to three-year terms on the AHFA Board of Directors include: Doug Bassett, Vaughan-Bassett Furniture; Bruce Birnbach, American Leather; Karel Czanderna, Flexsteel Industries; Michael Delgatti, Hooker Furniture; Todd Evans, Standard Furniture; Joe Johnston, Johnston Casuals; Steve Lehman, Smith Brothers of Berne; Eric Parsons, Gloster Furniture; and Jeff Scheffer, Universal Furniture.
 
Continuing on the board with terms expiring at the end of 2019 are Doug Collier, La-Z-Boy Inc.; Eric Graham, Fine Furniture Design; Greg Harden, Harden Furniture; Fred Henjes, Riverside Furniture; Allan Palecek, Palecek; Glenn Prillaman, Stanley Furniture; Alex Shuford III, Century Furniture; and Todd Wanek, Ashley Furniture Industries Inc.
 
Continuing on the board with terms expiring at the end of 2018 are David Beckmann, Emerald Home Furnishings; Roger Bland, Southern Motion; Andy Bray, Vanguard Furniture Company Inc.; Jeff Cook, A.R.T. Furniture; Kurt Darrow, La-Z-Boy Inc.; Rory Rehmert, Castelle; and Ron Wanek, Ashley Furniture Industries Inc.
 
AHFA is based in High Point, North Carolina and represents more than 230 furniture manufacturers and distributors, along with about 150 suppliers to the furniture industry worldwide. AHFA serves as the residential furniture industry’s advocate in Washington, D.C. on all legislative and regulatory matters, and leads the development of voluntary environmental product safety and construction standards for home furnishings.
