You can see the marks of the oil as I rubbed it in to the wood

Hi, So I was rubbing some linseed oil on my chairs, however it seems I may have added a slight bit too much as it was my first time doing this, and I’m afraid I may have ruined my chairs. The texture is extremely uneven and tacky, it’s dry now but it still feels tacky, you can tell there is definitely excess product. It’s no longer the smooth wooden texture. Please is there a way to remove this? Purchasing new chairs is not an option as they are too pricey but I just need a solution to bring back the smooth wooden texture it has before applying all the oil. The little scratch-like marks on the chair are actually dust that has set in with the oil too??‍♀️ Thank you
