FAIRFAX, Va. -- After consideration and discussion Woodworking Machinery Industry Association and Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America have decided to cancel the 2021 Woodworking Industry Conference scheduled for April 20-23 in Coronado, California.

“This wasn’t a decision made in haste, but in light of the concerns and uncertainties related to the coronavirus, and the continued restrictions being imposed on large gatherings, especially in California, this was the best decision,” said Larry H. Hoffer, president and CEO of WMIA.

Attendees holding confirmed room reservations with Hotel Del Coronado within the WIC room block will have their room reservations canceled with no penalty and will receive email confirmation of the cancellation (as long as an email address was provided to the hotel at the time of reservation).

If someone’s room reservation was confirmed as part of the WIC room block, no further action is needed to cancel the reservation. However, if an attendee made a reservation outside of the WIC room block or via an alternate internet booking service, they will need to contact the hotel to cancel their reservation.

Hoffer said the planning team for WIC is currently considering some virtual offerings for business and technology sessions in the coming months.

The wood industry is asked to mark their calendars for WIC 2022, which will be held May 3-6, 2022, at the Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas. See http://www.wmia.org
