MADISON, WI  – Stiles Machinery teamed up with Madison Area Technical College (MATC) to host over 40 industry and education professionals and students at university’s campus in Madison, Wisconsin for a Solid Wood Technology seminar.

The April 19 event, co-hosted by Patrick Molzahn, the Director of the Woodworking Program at MATC, was attended by 11 local companies and nine students. Attendees experienced innovative solid wood technology and production processes including demonstrations in rough mill technology, moulder technology, tooling and lumber grading, purchasing and tracking.

Stiles’ product specialist, Peter Van Dyke, opened the event with an overview of the modern rough mill, showcasing several types of solid wood machinery and their impact on productivity and efficiency. Participants were then divided into groups where they experienced practical demonstrations in proper handling and preparing of tooling, profile knife grinding, and moulder calibration and setup.
