CHICAGO – The global platform for commercial interiors, the 49th annual NeoCon opened this week, June 12-14 to 50,000 design professionals and architects at the Mart in Chicago. The event, known for its display of innovation, caters to vertical markets from healthcare to hospitality, and draws interior designers around the world.

Hundreds of the world’s leading companies are showcasing products across markets including Workplace, Healthcare, Hospitality, Retail, Education, Public Spaces, and Government.

Wood products are always a main attraction at the event, and we’ve selected a few notable ones currently on display:

Introduced in 2012, Stikwood's signature product is the world’s first peel and stick reclaimed and sustainable wood planking. Designed for the commercial and residential marketplaces, products include peel and stick wood wall planking and wall art in a wide variety of finishes.

To manufacture such a product, company owners Jerry and Laura McCall invested in machinery that thinly slices layers from reclaimed wood. They also developed an effective adhesive – and determined how to place it on each panel. The couple have developed uses for every part of the reclaimed lumber they source.

Height-adjustable office work desks are once again common. Humanscale’s QuickStand Eco workstation surface arrives onsite ready to use – just needing to be placed on a desired desktop. The QuickStand Eco transitions smoothly and instantly from different positions without interrupting workflow. It also features a self-locking mechanism that provides stability and increased functionality.

Mohawk Group’s Hybrid Media enhanced resilient tile (ERT) combines five different wood species into a carpet tile. The combination creates a dynamic mix of shades and graining with a deconstructionist vibe. Hybrid Media uses its full two-meter pattern platform to ensure a unique variety of wood tones and textures for each installation.

World renowned design firm Gensler has partnered with trendy home furnishings firm West Elm to make the Conduit System, a flexible and customizable office system.

Woodworking Network editors Bill Esler, Karl Forth, and Michaelle Bradford are on the show floor this week at NeoCon. Stay tuned for updates.

NeoCon 2017 takes place from Monday, June 12 to Wednesday, June 14. More information is available here.
