Joint agreement creates largest Mexican woodworking event

Mexico City - Magna Expo Mueblera, Mexico's largest woodworking event, just got even stronger with the signing of a cooperation agreement between Hannover Fairs Mexico and the Mexican association of wood and furniture suppliers, AMPIMM, for a joint event. Magna Expo Mueblera (MEM) takes place Jan. 16-18 at the Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City.

The AMPIMM trade fair, originally scheduled for June 2019, will no longer take place.

Signing the agreement are (left to right) Eugenio Carrillo, project director MEM Industrial, Bernd Rohde, managing director Hannover Fairs Mexico, Alejandro Tena, president of AMPIMM, and Mauricio Rodríguez, advisory committee at AMPIMM.

The long-term cooperation agreement between AMPIMM (Asociación Mexicana de Proveedores de la Industria Maderera y Mueblera A.C.) and Hannover Fairs Mexico, a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe, was signed Nov. 7 in Mexico City. Alejandro Tena, president of the Mexican association’s executive council, and Bernd Rohde, managing director of Hannover Fairs México, confirmed their intent to jointly strengthen the Mexican wood and furniture industry.

“This makes our show the main supplier event for these sectors in Mexico,” added Christian Pfeiffer, Global Director of LIGNA and Woodworking Events at Deutsche Messe.

The new pooling of resources by AMPIMM and Hannover Fairs México will result in a business platform that not only features the latest wood and furniture industry technologies and applications – including machines in live operation – but also materials, accessories and fittings, for custom and high-production solid wood and panel processing applications, said show management. The event also features conference and training programs on a range of topics.

2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the annual Magna Expo Mueblera tradeshow. Among the companies scheduled to exhibit at MEM-Industrial are Weinig, Holz-Her, SCM, Altendorf, Stiles Machinery-Homag, Jowat and Kaeser.

Founded in 2002, AMPIMM represents both importers and resellers of components, raw materials and machines as well as service providers from the wood and furniture industry. The association provides representation and information services as well as training and further education opportunities for its members.

Based in Mexico City, Hannover Fairs México was founded in 2006. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Hannover-based Deutsche Messe group of companies and organizes Magna Expo Mueblera and other trade fairs such as Solar Power Mexico and Industrial Transformation Mexico.
