BERGAMO, Italy - IKEA and SCM will present workshops at the IDEA Innovation Design Expo Area - Exhibition for Machinery, New Technologies, Components and Materials for the Furniture Industry, April 12 to 15 2016, at the same time as the Milano Design Week Salone del Mobile. 
 
This new event will open concurrently with Salone del Mobile, Eurocucina, Salone del Bagno in Milan, allowing visitors that are already in the area to see and learn about the products and technologies for furniture manufacturing. Already thousands of visitors have registered, including groups coming from Brazil, China, Canada, Iran, Lithuania, Hungary.
 

From design to assembly, four days will look inside the future of furniture, and how will it change depending on what is happening in the market.
 
On the conference side of the event, IKEA will organize two seminars. IKEA will speak on Friday, April 15th on the topic, "More from less: lightweight board materials," and SCM Group will address "Furniture on demand: close to the Customer."
 
Centro Study Industria Leggera of Milano (CSIL) will present the international market forecast for the current year and 2017.
Among the edgy developments to be examined:
  • Furniture can be light, with emission close to zero, following sustainable principles
  • It can be easily assembled, without glue, connecting parts made with 3D printers and welded with ultrasound 
  • Factories can optimize the parts flow thanks to software capable of organizing the working process follwoing industry 4.0.
