Jenna Gaidusek: Remote design innovator

Jenna Gaidusek opened her online design firm, Jenna Gaidusek Designs, in 2016.

Jenna Gaidusek is a forward-thinking interior designer. While working remotely, her approach has allowed her to find her own lane in interior design field, merging innovative techniques with a client-centered philosophy. Since founding her online design firm Jenna Gaidusek Designs in 2016, she has focused on creating high-end designs for clients across the United States and Canada.

Her passion for design began early, long before she entered college. Growing up in Vermont, where interior design wasn’t widely recognized, she said, she often redecorated her room instead of doing mundane chores. Her love of transforming spaces led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, which equipped her with the technical skills to complement her creativity.

Design philosophy

At the heart of Gaidusek’s philosophy is the thought that design should be about the people who dwell in the space, not the designer’s personal preferences. “I don’t design for me. I design for the person that lives in the house,” Gaidusek explained. This process ensures her designs are pleasing, functional, and tailored to each client’s needs.

Gaidusek’s philosophy also emphasizes collaboration and flexibility. While she offers expert guidance and prioritizes clients’ ideas, she is always open to their input, ensuring the final design reflects their personalities and lifestyles. Whether working with unexpected suggestions or integrating various opinions, her goal is to create spaces that resonate with the people who use them daily.

While working remotely, collaboration and flexibility are key to creating a design that works for her clients, Jenna Gaidusek said.

Inspiration and influences

Gaidusek’s design inspiration comes from immersing herself in the latest trends and technological innovations, including Artificial Intelligence (AI). She founded AI for Interior Designers and with her deep understanding of AI, has set out to enlighten the interior design industry.

Having lived in multiple states and experienced different cultures, Gaidusek draws from these diverse influences. She believes blending these cultural elements into a cohesive space can tell a story and add depth to a design.

Impact of COVID-19

In recent years, Gaidusek has observed a significant shift in design trends, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The neutral, minimalist interior era has given way to more vibrant and personalized spaces. “We went into the gray ages for a decade, and now people are starting to merge all of these different styles and backgrounds into their homes,” she noted. She believes the pandemic has played a crucial role in this transformation, as people spent more time indoors and realized the importance of living in spaces that reflect their personalities.

Gaidusek welcomes this trend towards individuality in design, as it aligns with her own philosophy of creating spaces tailored to the people who dwell in them. She envisions a future where homeowners prioritize their comfort and preferences over resale value, resulting in more diverse and personalized interiors.

Challenges and solutions

One of the challenges Gaidusek faces in her work is balancing clients’ desires and practical design considerations. While making her clients’ visions a reality is a priority, she also ensures that the final design is functional. “Every idea is workable,” she said, emphasizing her role in elevating and refining her clients’ ideas to create a space that makes sense for them.

Her ability to navigate these challenges and her collaborative approach have enabled trust with her clients, many of whom work with her remotely. Despite the distance, Gaidusek creates strong connections, understanding their needs and translating them into beautifully designed spaces.

Personal life and motivation

When Gaidusek isn’t designing, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, engaging in activities that allow her to relax and recharge. A favorite way to unwind is shopping with her daughter and enjoying a “Girl’s Day.”

Her guiding principle, “Everything happens for a reason,” reflects her outlook on life. This mantra has helped her navigate the ups and downs, allowing her to approach each project purposefully and confidently.

Gaidusek’s innovative process and commitment to client-centered solutions allow her to adapt to new trends, work remotely, and still deliver personalized, high-quality designs.
