Overall cabinet sales drop in June: KCMA report

RESTON, Va. – In contrast to May's year-over-year sales rebound, cabinet manufacturers reported a drop in overall cabinet sales for June, down 1.2% compared to the year prior. Overall cabinet sales were also down 2.2% compared to May 2024 figures, according to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's June Trend of Business report. Sales were down in two of the three categories for both the year-over-year and month-over-month comparison.

Survey respondents reported overall sales of $247,047 for June. In the year-over-year comparison, custom sales were down slighly, 0.1%, to $66,021, semi-custom rose 1.9% to $141,355 and stock sales dropped 12.3% to $39,671. Cabinet quantity for the month was 702,086, a decrease of 0.3% compared to June 2023 figures.

For the month over month sales comparison, survey respondents reported reported a 2.2% over May figures. Gains were made in semi-custom (1.1%), with custom showing a slight drop (0.1%) in sales and stock falling 15.0%.

Similar to last month, stock cabinetry was again the only category to show sales gains in the year-to-date, year-over-year comparison. Stock sales through June 2024 were up 1.1% compared to 2023, while custom sales dropped 8.8% and semi-custom declined 3.3%; overall sales by responding companies for the year to date were $1.4 million, a 4.0% decrease compared to the same period last year. Cabinet quantity for the year to date was 3.96 million, a decrease of 3.1% over the same time period last year.

Estimated overall market sales for June were $1.0 million and estimated sales for the year to date for the overall market were $6.9 million.

The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) represents kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
