Industry groups such as the Composite Panel Assn. are taking exception to proposed changes in the Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission that implies membership in an association “taints” that group’s ability to provide a non-biased environmental claim.

OSHA fines Ameriwood

TIFFIN, Ohio – The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited Ameriwood Industries Inc., a wood furniture manufacturer in Tiffin, with two alleged serious and two alleged repeat safety violations for failing to train employees in safe work practices and require them to wear proper safety equipment when working on electrical panels. Proposed penalties total $60,000.

Chicago blacklists Arrow Lumber

CHICAGO -- Arrow Lumber Co. has been permanently barred from doing business with Chicago following a Dec. 6 Chicago Tribune report that its owner Donald Beal had admitted in 2007 to taking part in a scheme to defraud taxpayers.
