In 2014, NK Woodworking won 4 out of 5 Best Staircase awards, considered the most prestigious national awards for staircase design and craftsmanship. Before NK Woodworking, no other stair design/build firm has won more than two in any one year.
By sweeping the competition two years in a row, Katzoff has earned the acknowledgment of his peers and the design community as the premier stair designer in North America.
NK Woodworking founder Nathie Katzoff, a young entrepreneur and artist who began in his teens as a prolific musician, is now focusing on architectural and sculptural art. He transforms interior spaces into a canvas, blending exceptional craftsmanship with visionary design. From his past experiences as an alternative musician, he brings to NK Woodworking “tireless creativity…and an anything-goes attitude.”
Nathie’s fine woodworking skills originated with wooden boat building, being trained as a shipwright on the coast of Maine. His passion for architectural design couldn’t be contained and award-winning work began emerging from the workshop almost immediately. He won a national award for the first residential staircase he was commissioned to build, and the string of awards followed.
Founded in 2011 in Seattle, NK Woodworking specializes in high-end stairs; wooden furniture and bathtubs; and other architectural art, designed to be shipped and installed anywhere. www.nkwoodworking.com
