The contest is co-sponsored by Hafele America of Archdale, NC, and the American Society of Furniture Designers. The award honors David Kline, a career furniture designer and past member of ASFD. The contest is open to all students in North America who are currently enrolled in an accredited design program.

MARTINSVILLE, VA – Hooker Furniture Corp. announced it would close its last U.S. wood furniture manufacturing facility by the end of March, according to Reuters. The company cited increased demand for imported wood and metal furniture. The plant employs approximately 280 workers, or 27 percent of the company’s total staff.
