HIGH POINT, NC – Entries are being accepted for the 2007 ASFD David Kline Memorial Scholarship Design Contest. The contest is co-sponsored by Hafele America of Archdale, NC, and the American Society of Furniture Designers.
The award honors David Kline, a career furniture designer and past member of ASFD. The contest is open to all students in North America who are currently enrolled in an accredited design program.
Entrants are to submit one design project themed upon Hafele’s Tab A Honeycomb connector. The connector can be used to construct furniture out of honeycomb materials with or without framing materials, creating lighter weight, yet thick panels.
The top three winners will be awarded scholarships of $3,500, $1,000 and $500 for first, second and third place respectively. The awards will be presented during the ASFD Spring Furniture Market dinner on Tuesday, March 27 in High Point.
Entrants may download the application, instructions and information from the ASFD Web site: www.asfd.com/scholarship.php. The entry deadline is March 1.
