Wood silo catches fire causing dust explosion at furniture workshop

Firefighters from 11 departments fought a silo fire and subsequent dust explosion for almost 12 hours October 13. Two firefighter were treated for minor injuries in the incident at a wood waste silo at the Pompanoosuc Mills furniture workshop in East Thetford, Vermont.The business manufactures furniture for showrooms in Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

Remodeling market sentiment improves in third quarter

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) released its NAHB/Westlake Royal Remodeling Market Index (RMI) for the third quarter, posting a reading of 60, up one point compared to the previous quarter. With the reading of 60, the RMI remains solidly in positive territory above 50, but lower than it had been at any time from 2021 through 2024.
