Universal Forest Products Acquires Bigs Packaging and LumberGRAND RAPIDS, MI - Wood and packaging solutions manufacturer Bigs Packaging and Lumber LLC has been acquired by UFP Western Division, Inc., a subsidiary of Universal Forest Products, Inc. Financial details of the Nov. 13 deal were not released.

Founded in 2011 and based in Dallas, TX, Bigs had sales of approximately $50 million in the past year. According to a statement by Universal, Bigs President Bryan Bigham will retain his role with the company.

“Bryan knows how to create success, market products and lead an outstanding team. We are excited to see his team continue their growth and expand the industrial business, which is one of our key strategic goals,” said Universal CEO Matthew J. Missad in a statement. 

In addition to Bigham, Andrew Hughes, industrial and packaging sales specialist, will retain his position, Universal said, as will other employees who meet its criteria for employment.

Universal (NASDAQ: UFPI) said the acquisition will enhance its opportunities and customer base. Founded in 1955 and headquartered in Grand Rapids, Universal is a holding company with subsidiaries that supply wood, wood composite and other products to the retail, construction and industrial markets.
