LOCKPORT, N.Y. — A local news station says that it has obtained an email purportedly from the owner of Candlelight Cabinetry, Andrew Olsen, that states that he has made progress working with new and existing partners to “sustain Candlelight well into the future.”

Woodworking Network has reached out to Olsen via text message to enquire about the email and the progress he says he has made in obtaining financing from partners in an effort to catch up on all operations. Olsen has not responded to the Woodworking Network's message.

The email, obtained by WKBW in Buffalo, was reportedly sent to all employees at the company at around 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13. The email, according to WKBW, says, "Want to update everyone on the progress we have made this week with our collaborative existing partners as well as some potential new partners all keenly focused on sustaining candlelight well into the future. We are still working on particular details and timing, however we expect to catch up on all and continue operations the week of February 23rd with particulars to come mid to late next week.

"Furlough will continue the week of February 16th."

Candlelight employees have been without work since about January 22, and according to a release from state senator Rob Ortt they still have yet to receive their final paychecks or this year’s 401(k) benefits. As a result, Ort has asked the state Department of Labor and the district attorney to investigate the company.

Candlelight Cabinetry in Lockport, New York, furloughed its employees and is reportedly facing lawsuits that add up to more $6 million dollars.

A former executive with the cabinet company told Woodworking Network that he has been in contact with many employees who said that they have not been paid money owed to them.

Olsen told Woodworking Network by text on Jan. 31 that there were a lot of unsubstantiated rumors going around and that he was working on a deal to solve cash flow issues and pay off creditors.

"I can tell you that we have not had a single layoff," he said, "however, we did furlough some employees for what we think will be a week or two while we work on a partnership to ensure long-term liability of the company.’
