BOISE, Idaho — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is offering two timber sales in July, totaling about 628,000 board feet to be harvested from 139 acres in central and northern Idaho. Timber produced from these sales will provide critical supplies for construction and other industries, and support jobs across local economies.

The Coeur d’Alene District will offer the Gentle Annie timber sale of approximately 493,000 board feet for commercial thinning on 100 acres near Mullan, east of Kellogg, in northern Idaho’s Shoshone County. BLM will accept written bids from July 7 through July 21, 2025, at the Coeur d’Alene District Office, 3232 W. Nursery Rd., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.

Thinning this timber stand will remove dead and downed woody debris, caused by insect and disease. The timber sale will leave an average of 55 trees per acre, making it much more resistant and resilient to wildland fire.

The Idaho Falls District will offer the McDevitt Post and Pole timber sale, which will include roughly 17,000 lodgepole pine trees and approximately 135,000 board feet for commercial harvest on 39 acres south of Salmon in central Idaho’s Lemhi County. BLM will accept written, sealed bids from July 7 through July 22, 2025, at the Salmon Field Office, 1206 South Challis St., Salmon, ID 83467.

This sale involves the removal of merchantable timber to address overstocking, which can contribute to forest insect and disease concerns. The smaller lodgepole pine trees are more valuable and suitable for fencing materials, while the larger trees are sold by the board feet or cord and are best for firewood.

America has significant timber resources, and the BLM is focused on using forests for timber and jobs that improve life for all Americans. These sales support Executive Order 14225, “Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production.”

BLM Idaho manages approximately 770,000 acres of forest lands and approximately 300,000 acres of woodlands. This government sector is committed to supplying a reliable, secure, and resilient domestic supply of timber. Local communities rely on BLM forest jobs; timber sales generate nearly $21 million for Idaho rural economies.
