Sierra Pacific’s AutoCAD AdvantageCustomer service is key for Sierra Pacific Industries, a vertically integrated window and door manufacturer in Red Bluff, CA.

Every product the company makes starts with a detailed CAD drawing. With close to 250,000 CAD drawings archived and 11 different service locations, Sierra Pacific’s service team needs to be able to access and locate specific drawings quickly.

The implementation of the Docupoint DrawingSearcher AutoCAD search tool has enabled the company to significantly reduce the search time needed to locate specific drawings in AutoCAD archives. What once would have take days if not weeks to accomplish, can now be done in just a few minutes, says David Miesbauer, systems analyst, and Steve Gaston, CIO.

“By utilizing DrawingSearcher, our service team has become a more nimble, responsive and effective department — one that is better suited to meet and address the needs of our customers and answer specific questions about their Sierra Pacific products in a professional and timely manner,” they say.

Miesbauer and Gaston note the company continues to reap benefits since the program’s implementation almost 10 years ago. “Anyone who uses an Internet search engine like Google, Bing or Yahoo! is able to use DrawingSearcher, which is accessible from any computer with an Internet connection. It lets us search for specific words or codes within our AutoCAD drawings so the service team can identify specific drawings for specific customers quickly and effectively.”
