Cabinet-Closet Crossover Trend Sets the Stage for New Show
Ready or Not, Controversial Product Safety Website Goes Live

Wellborn, Yorktowne, Wood-Mode and Canyon Creek have all made a name for themselves manufacturing kitchen cabinets. In recent years, each of these companies has also crossed over into the closet organization arena.

The lines between cabinets for the kitchen and cabinets for the closet blur even more among small custom cabinet companies. Like the Wellborns and Wood-Modes of the world, these entrepreneurs have come to the realization that many of the fundamental manufacturing methods they apply, particularly the 32mm System for cabinets, is readily adapted to making wood closet products.

The cabinet-to-closet crossover is also widely apparent on the supply side of the wood products business. Many hardware companies have introduced products for closet organization systems, cabinet software companies have developed CAD/CAM software for closets and wood component companies, better known for serving cabinet and furniture customers, have staked a claim in the closets niche.

New Cabinets & Closets Expo

It’s against this backdrop that Woodworking Network is excited to announce a new industry event. The Cabinets & Closets Conference & Expo (CCCE) will debut Feb. 27-March 1, 2013 at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, NJ.

The CCCE: Total Storage Solutions will build on the inherent strengths, similarities and synergies of the dynamic closet and custom cabinet markets, while also paying homage to the distinctive differences that make each of these product categories unique.

The initial reaction to our announcement about this new event has been overwhelmingly positive from past and potential new exhibitors and attendees. Most readily see the connection between the closet and cabinet markets and the opportunity for the CCCE to take the past Closet Conference & Expo event to an even wider audience and higher level.

Executive-Level Learning

The Cabinets & Closets Conference, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 27 is geared for owners and managers of custom cabinet, closet, garage and other home storage products. It will feature presentations focusing on best practices to grow sales, contain costs and branch out into new markets.

The two-day Cabinets & Closets Expo follows on Thursday, Feb. 28 and Friday, March 1. The expo will feature woodworking machinery and CAD-CAM software, plus decorative and functional hardware, components, laminated panels and other products used by manufacturers and specifiers of custom cabinets, closets and other storage products.

The state-of-the-art New Jersey Convention & Exposition Center is located within driving distance of New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore and other major metropolitan hubs. In addition, the Northeast boasts the highest concentration of readers of CLOSETS, Custom Woodworking Business and Wood & Wood Products magazines.
