Original color and what I am trying to match

Hello!

I am working on re-staining a three legged table and unfortunately, the first layer of veneer kind of got sanded a bit too much and now I have three places that are a different shade than the rest. So far, I've only sanded this once (80 grit orbital sander) so I will be sanding with finer grit (e.g. 100, 120, 150). Because the veneer is so thin, I was wondering if you had any suggestions about what I should do at this point. I'd like to minimize the damage but also keep the veneer from coming off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)
